The University of Johannesburg Golden Key Chapter hosted a Student Financial Seminar sponsored by Absa Capital on 3 August 2011. The Seminar had speakers from the National Credit Regulator and a Professor from the UJ Department of Finance and Investment Management. The South African Savings Institute sent through some pamphlets on the importance of savings and financial planning. The purpose was to create awareness about financial literacy among students on the benefits of savings and having less debt obligations. The Seminar also covered the short and long benefits of savings; how to investment in different asset classes, how to maximize your earning potential once you start earning an income (budgeting) and what are your consumer rights as a debtor (student loans and personal loans).
A word of special thanks to Absa Capital for supporting and sponsoring Golden Key at UJ.
