Absa Capital Pioneering Young Women Conference - APPLY NOW
1 - 4 July 2012

Absa Capital believes in the development of young women in areas of strategic thinking, negotiation, assertiveness and self-esteem - areas often perceived as barriers to the progress of women in business.

The Absa Capital Pioneering Young Women Conference aims to address these developmental areas and bridge the gap between student life and the working environment. Thirty top achieving female students from around Africa will have the opportunity to take a step closer to becoming one of tomorrow's business leaders.

The conference is scheduled to take place from 1 - 4 July 2012, in Johannesburg. The event is a three-day interactive journey incorporating talented young women, inspirational entrepreneurs, successful leaders and business achievers. It includes workshops, speeches, interactive challenges and debates, a group business challenge, as well as an opportunity to network. Click here to view brochure.

It will also provide exposure to the challenges and opportunities that exist in the financial sector, providing a platform to interact with professionals and entrepreneurs, so as to gain insight into the industry and sharpen leadership skills.

As the only sponsor of its kind to focus on women at university level, the conference intends to attract some of the country's most powerful women from a variety of fields as participants and speakers.

History
The Absa Capital Pioneering Young Women Conference was the brainchild of two UCT students, Mzamo Mjekevu and Thulasizwe Buthelezi who wanted to find a way to bridge the gap between student life and the working environment for graduates. They believe that while South Africa has seen many positive strides towards the emancipation of women, much groundwork was needed to be done for the achievement of true gender equality in the workplace. Absa Capital - seeing it as vital to develop business' most precious resource, its future leaders - came on board as the headline sponsor in 2011.
